US President Barack Obama
remembered "Jain"  while extending Diwali greetings.

Barack Obama, President of America extended his greetings from White House, Washington on the occasion of Diwali Thursday November 4, 2010.  He is looking  forward to visiting India in the next few days.

'Tomorrow, Hindus, Jains, Sikhs and some Buddhists, here in America and around the world, will celebrate the holiday of Diwali - the festival of lights. This is a day when members of some of the world's oldest religion celebrate the triumph of good over evil,' President Obama said in a message. .


He reminded that he had lighted a 'Diya (lamp)' last year in the White House to mark the holiday of Deepavali. 'This lamp symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance,' said Barack Obama.



He  ended his message with his good wishes. The US President Barack Obama said,  'And to all those who will celebrate this joyous occasion on Friday, I wish you, your families and loved ones Happy Diwali and Saal Mubarak'.

President Obama will be in a four day visit to India from November 6, 2010. just after Diwali.

Navratri begins Shraddh Paksh (Pitri Paksh) ended

Navratri (Navaratri, Navratra) begins from tomorrow, Friday, October 8, 2010. Fortnight long  Shraddh Paksh (Pitri Paksh) has ended today. Ashwin Krishna Amavasya, the last day of he Pitri Paksh is known as Mahalaya. Bengali people observe Mahalaya with great enthusiasm.

Hindu community paid homage to their ancestors during these days. Normally they do not organize any auspicious event during these days.

Navratri begins with joy. Hindu community celebrates this festival by worshiping Nav Durga. Durga Puja is the biggest festival in West Bengal state in India.

Akha Teej 2010

Akha Teej (Akshay Tritiya) 2010, the Indian festival will come soon. It falls on second Vaisakh Shukla Tritiya according to Indian lunar calendar. It will be celebrated on May 16, 2010. Sunday this year.

Holi: Color Festival of India

Gulabi Nagar Vichar Manch organized forum discussion on Holi: Color festival of India on the eve of Holi festival on February 28, 2010.

Gyanendra Singh Shekhawat, Chief speaker, informed many salient features about Holi, the color festival of India. He told that this is the festival which abolishes all barriers among old and young, rich and poor. He told that Holi has provided an outlet to human emotions. It is symbol of victory of good over evils. He illustrated this with the story of Hiranya Kashyap and Prahlad.

Tejkaran Parashar informed that  the King of Jaipur used to go to Dashara Maidan and ignite Holi rubbing stones. The King used to ignite the fire at first and then every body  took the fire to ignite at their own places.

Jyoti Kothari added that Holi is a Shudra festival according to Hindu culture. It gives an outlet to human emotions related to "Tamasik" britti. Raksha bandhan is a Brahman, Dashara is a Kshatriya and Diwali is a Vaishya festival. However, every body enjoys all four festivals. He also told that the full moon day is generally considered as to increase madness. Holi, fall on the full moon day that increases activity of madness.

Moreover, it is the end of spring which is again season of Entertainment, joy and happiness. He also informed about Holi of Bengal and especially of Azimganj, Murshidabad.

Darshan Kothari told that he enjoys Holi very much with his friends. He and his friends enjoy colors.

Ashok Bothra, the presiding Dignitary appeal every one to play Holi peacefully and not to create any nuisance.
