Vanayatra: Visiting tribal schools in Rajasthan

Vanayatra is an integrated and essential part of FTS activities. Local bodies organize a trip to some "Ekal Vidyalaya" near to the place.

These trips are organized to have a first hand experience of activities en site. These vanayatras encourage and motivate FTS members and people at large to serve the tribal society.

Normally these are one day or even half day tours. These are like excursions we enjoyed in our student life. FTS do not expend for these trips. Instead these are contributory.

(FTS is an abbreviation for Friends of Tribal Society)

FTS, Jaipur is planning for a Vanayatra in near future. We will notify in this blog when a schedule will be prepared and finalyzed including date and time of visit, place, contribution etc.

Please inform us if you would like to join the trip.
Jyoti Kothari is recruited as convener of Vanayatra.

His brother Kesri Chand Nahar was a great patron of Indian classical music. He collected and published "Stavanavali" almost a century back. This is a great collection of Jain Bhajans with name of "Raag" and "Taal" printed with every Bhajan (Jain devotional song).

He had been in the ministry of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy and Siddhartha Shankar Roy. Later on, he left Congress party with babu Jagjivan Ram to form Congress for democracy in 1977. When Congress for democracy was merged into Janata party, he became general secretary of Janata Party. He fought and won parliamentary election in 1977 from Kolkata.
He was a revolutionary Jain and edited and published "Tarun Jain", a monthly magazine for young Jains. He also adorned the post of Chairman, Bihar religious trust board, Government of Bihar.

About Jaipur and its architecture

Jaipur is a beautiful city and the capital of Rajasthan. Sawai Jaisingh, Maharaja of Amber, built it three hundred years back. He shifted his capital from Amber to Jaipur. Vidyadhar, a renowned town planner, and architect from Bengal designed the city. The old city is walled and all the buildings are pink. Hence, Jaipur is nicknamed as Pink City. It is also called Emerald city for its tradition of Emerald manufacturing.
Jaipur is in the golden triangle of Indian tourist map with Indian capital Delhi and Tazmahal fame Agra. Hawamahal, the icon of Jaipur; Jantar Mantar, the observatory; Forts on the top of mountains, Beautiful palaces and gardens, Hindu and Jain temples are places of attraction. Jaipur is the preferred destination for Bollywood filmmakers.
Jaipur is also the place for precious and semi-precious gemstones. This is the biggest color stone manufacturing and trading center in India. It is also known for its handicrafts and garments industries.
Jaipur is well connected with the rest of the world through air, road and train links.

About uncommon Photographs

Huge materials are available in the hub pages and on the web about Jaipur. However, these photographs are different from those available on the net. All these photographs are from my own private collection and none from anywhere else. I have shot all these pictures myself but one with President Bill Clinton.
The pictures in this article reflect religion, society, culture, festival and of course, architect and sculpture of Jaipur. Jaipur is a vibrant city rich with its culture. Large numbers of forts, palaces, and other historical monuments have been attracting indigenous and overseas tourists for centuries. Temples of various religions with beautiful architecture and sculpture are an attraction for both devotees and tourists.
Cultural and religious events and festivals such as Diwali and Makar Sankranti are attractive features of Jaipur. Jaipur wedding ceremonies are also special.
Your suggestions and advice are welcome in the comments section.

Original Message:

Hi Jyotiji,

Nice to hear from you. Thank you for the congratulatory message and for making a post on your blog about my graduation.

I studied learning and memory within the eye movement control system in humans. Basically, I looked at how people make accurate eye movements under different conditions and how people remember locations in space. I also studied which brain areas are involved while this is happening by using fMRI (functional magnetic resonance imaging) technology.
I continue to do research in this area, but am also looking for jobs outside of academia right now.

Best regards,
Riju,
